If you’re a regular visitor or subscriber of my blog, you’ll remember the last post I wrote; My Top 5 Self-Care Apps for Freelancers somewhat completes that post. In my freelance journey as Virtual Work Manager, I’ve come across (and researched) many tools and resources for freelancers or rather, business owners. Solopreneur might be the more apt title because as a freelancer, you are the entire team and even when you bring in other resources outside of yourself, you don’t really ‘have’ them on your team – they are simply a resource you can acquire for a short time. Subscribe to the blog to not miss the next post in which I’ll be discussing why it’s important to remain solo in this game, at least for a while, even when you start making enough money to hire a full-time resource. Head over to Xena – an amazing resource for Entrepreneurs – it’s full of tips and information for all lady bosses, new or advanced.

Now back to the apps:
- BetterSleep
My Favourite Meditation/Sleeping Mix – This is my favourite sleep mix – I set it for 30 minutes and I never even get to hear it end because it knocks me right out! It’s that good. You guys should try them out, especially BetterSleep (first favourite app) I love the relaxing sounds and playlists I can create for meditating and sleeping. I love the journal that tracks and shows how you’re sleeping and if you’re getting good quality sleeping instead of just quantity. It records everything from snoring to farts (for those who do that kind of thing; I don’t). It’s just my favourite app for my mind especially when it’s running on high-octane stress fuel! Let’s take a quick look at BetterSleep . . .

- Fasting Tracker
I’m a long time fasting enthusiast, I’ve always fasted to get well when I felt sick and even with flu, fasting helps with or without medication. Extended fasting has helped with acne and other skin and scalp issues. Intermittent fasting has helped me control addictions and even eating issues like binge eating. I used to have the worst migraines – the kind that lands you in the hospital to get a cocktail of meds injected into your system while you lie down in a dark room with a cold compress and your eyes covered. That is no longer the case. Other people find that it causes eating issues or makes them worse but for me, it’s the exact opposite. It has helped to retrain my brain to eat when hungry and not eat when not hungry. It sounds simple but it’s not.
I know you don’t need an app to tell you when to eat but if you haven’t noticed that I’m some kind of geek by now, then there’s nothing I can say to that. I want to know how long I’ve been fasting since my last meal, I want to know how my body and mind reacts at certain timelines during my fasts and I want to know how it’s been changing my mindset and body over a certain period. I want to learn about the positive benefits and whatever negative benefits there may be (which you’ll find in most apps). I used to use only LIFE Fasting but am now using Fasting Tracker – it just works for me.

- I am
I like the I AM app for an immediate dose of positivity whenever I need it. I don’t use it much but sometimes when there’s no one around, reading something inspiring can feel like a warm hug.

- My Diary
My third favourite app is My Diary. It’s so useful in my process of decompressing at the end of each day, or whenever it’s necessary. I’ve always kept a journal and this one is limitless. It helps me to process feelings and emotions or just to throw up all and any negativity and go to bed feeling better and wake up with a much cleaner mindset. I also love that it tracks your entries and gives you an overall report of how negative or positive you’ve been over a certain period – you can then reflect and readjust to do better for your mind.
- Fitify
My second favourite app is Fitify. I’m always lazy to workout but when I complete a Fitify workout, I feel strong and capable (and sore as well as exhausted). I generally feel good about being able to complete each session. I’ve started a new 12-week challenge to complete the workouts every weekday for 12 weeks and just check that off my bucket list. I might start another when I finish this one – but the furthest I’ve gone in the past has been 2 weeks. Can I make it to 12 this time? I better! Exercise is supposed to be a stress killer – and so I have to do this. Fitbit has been my go-to smart watch for tracking steps, workout and everything related to movement. I haven’t tried other fitness watches – the app works very well with my very old Charge 2 and I’m good with it.
